What does research mean to you?
To me, research is attempting to create a better world through scientific discovery. I love the ability to work on complex problems with my own solutions that I get to test, knowing that it may lead to some future benefit.

Tell us about your journey.
When I was younger, I was unsure about what I wanted to do as a career. I thought of many options, but nothing stuck. In high school, I had the opportunity to write a thesis presentation of any topic, so I ended up choosing Alzheimer's disease. After writing that paper, and volunteering at an Alzheimer's assisted living facility, I realized that I wanted to dedicate my life towards ending this horrible disease. Since then, I have wanted to work both in the clinical and research portions of neurodegenerative work, and plan on continuing to do that into the future.

What was your favorite part about the program?
My favorite part of the Green Fellows program was learning the ins and outs of a job within a research lab.

What was the biggest thing you learned from the program?
The biggest thing I've learned from the program is that there is always something new to learn.

Advice for Future Green Fellows

Ask tons of questions, listen, and write notes. You will be overwhelmed by the amount of information thrown your way at the beginning, but trust me, it gets easier.
