Tips before applying
"Advice for future applicants? Fill out the application honestly and without stressing over every single last sentence or answer. And no, I am not going to tell you what I want to hear. And you need to take the idea that this program is really designed for students interested in a research intensive career and is NOT appropriate for someone simply looking for some kind of superlative to add to their resume or who have no interest at all in research. A successful application shows us a passionate, creative, and REAL person who can truly benefit from the experience and someone eager to stretch themselves for their scientific pursuits."
" Please be completely honest in filling out your GF application. Many students have heard that if they indicate their career choice is medical school only, then they will not be considered so they choose MD/PhD as their career choice. This is certainly not the case. I have always believed that having a significant research experience as an undergraduate is an important part of your undergraduate experience whether you go to medical school, graduate school or choose another career path. Several GFs in the past thought they wanted to attend medical school but had such a positive research experience as a GF that they continued on as successful scientists. It’s the experience that lives with you forever."
